Introduction To Emotions And Selling

In most instances, a great number of prospects would use emotions to buy rather than logic. It would be much easier to sell when you can make an emotional connection with your prospect.

Beyond Product Features

Most products have similar features and the effects are going to be the same.

It is ultimately essential for you to have a product or service that can have life changing result. This will separate you from the rest. This is especially so for us Internet Marketers whenever we sell.

Why do we choose one product against the other? Most likely it’s going to be the brand, you trusted it and you have used for a long time already. Maybe it was someone whom you trusted who introduced it to you. Now don’t this entire sound familiar to my blog post about Building A Class Of Your Own. I spoke about class building or branding and trust. Definitely these will help you to sell eventually.

So as newbies, it is important to go out and establish your own class or brand, which your audience will trust and ultimately recommend to others. More likely it is the relationship with the brand rather than product that have taken place. This would tie up with my blog post about Relationship Building last week.

How Can We Capture Thoughts And Emotions

Tell a story and ideally it’s our own experience. We love hearing stories so do our prospect. In this manner we are blending in with our prospects thoughts and emotions. It helps in capturing their emotions.

Share your life changing experience with your prospect. In our Internet marketing arena, perhaps you can share how a high-ticket coaching programme has help you to ease your mortgages and bills payment when you lost your job.

What your prospect are Afraid of? Are they Afraid of Failure or Afraid of not getting the desire result? Are your prospect Afraid of being laugh by family and friends?

Let’s have a good laugh or end up being Afraid or Scare.

Blame

All our lives, one way or the other, we have been Blame for various reasons. We cannot escape that guilty feeling. We want to change this “Being Blame” emotion. For example being Blame for not providing for the family or paying monthly bills. This means we have something to act on.

Yearning

We Yearn for something from young till old or mature. It can be a service or a product, and that does not matter. It’s the emotion we are interested here. Our Market is Yearning for wealth and freedom. Perhaps our prospect is Yearning for the dream holiday with the family. Buying a dream house could be something they Yearn for.

Fondness

What or who are they Fond of? Fond or love is one of  the simplest example to touch on. Fond to see success in their online business. These are emotions of a deep nature and that is one area we can use.

Joy

A large family are all helping serve Christmas dinner.

 

Make good use of our life sharing to show our prospect how we attain Joy. This will appeal to them, remember it must be real and not something from PLR or someone else story that you are sharing. It is you they are interested in and not others.

Craving

Feed their Craving by giving them what they want. If your product or services can satisfy their Craving, simply put it across to them.

Sex

This is one I must admit I don’t know how to put it down in words for you. All I know is the term Sex Sells and we all know that.

Please note it is not about using pornography or any form of vulgarity. It is the subtleness of using sex that’s all. Lets say your audiences are males and the use of beautiful woman in the background during your presentation. This is what it implies.

Personally, I won’t want to use this to sell or pitch my sale.

Personal Progress/Improvement

We all want to be better than before don’t we? This means we want some form of Personal Progress or Improvement. Be it our physical self or our personal life or even our financial standing.

Self-Esteem

In particular, Self-Esteem and that is something we all deserved. We have to earned Self-Esteem and if what we are offering does help why not put it across to our prospect.

Summary of these 9 Emotions

 Dig deep into these core emotions and use these in our pitch to sell. As human as we all are these emotions are experienced by us. If you can master the art of skillfully placing in your sales copy a solution or satisfying these emotions, You Win!

 

Criticism

  • Oh this coaching programme is definitely not for me as there is doubt it will deliver.
  • Generally our prospects lack confidence in their abilities to see through a coaching programme.
  • Another area of criticism is that they could be left alone in the cold without any form of support. This is especially so in technical aspects. Not everyone is a techy; for sure I’m not one.
  • The use of testimonials help to clarify any doubts your prospect may have over the service or product you are trying to sell to them.

You must be ready to face these criticism and offer a solution. For many could have fallen for scam all these years and they view your service or product no differently.

Conclusion

At the end of the day I will still go back to what was mentioned in my older blog post about building a class of your own or branding, getting liked and trust.

Attract your prospect to you first and bring them to your side to show them you are real and genuine. Show them you want to help them more than making a sale out of them. That is also an emotion to thrive on. You could start by using Facebook like being friends. Develop and build a relationship with your prospect through constant communication. This happens to be in my post last week. It is from this communication, you will learn more about their emotions.

When that happens, it is much easier to sell and nailed down their criticism over your service or product. This concludes my post about “How To Start Using Emotional Selling”
